1989 - 1999
Nick Slade first served his apprenticeship at Trevor Crowe Subaru in New Zealand and was actively involved in the race and rally preparation of a Subaru Legacy RS as well as an Oldsmobile powered Skoda V8 rally car. During this time his main duties were servicing vehicles as an apprentice for Subaru. Nick also provided support at multiple race weekends and rallies over several years including the Rothmans Rally of New Zealand and the Nissan Mobil 500 touring car series races with Possum Bourne as co-driver at these events.
After completing his apprenticeship at Trevor Crowe Subaru, Nick moved to the USA and worked at Slade Engines, rebuilding race engines including the Cosworth DFV (F1 engine) and DFX (Indy Car engine) and also at that time restored a Ferrari BB512LM and a Ford GT40 chassis #1018.
Nick then moved onto looking after a large private collection (Tom Malloy collection) of vintage race cars, and during that time restored Ford GT40, MK 4 as well as an 86 March Indy Car (ex AJ Foyt), a Brabham Formula B, a Lola T70 coupe and a Lola 332 as well as prepping cars for race events throughout the season.
